In the middle of the National Park stands Göreme, a magical place in its setting of giant tufa cones and hill-cut troglodyte dwellings. This is the venue of the individual traveller, seeking to avoid the larger tourisitc scene. The village has all the visitor requires, post office, chemist, photographer, food and souvenir shops, and a regular bus service. For entertainment there are small bistro-type restaurants and bars... Every wednesday there is a local market. Göreme is also the best place from which to visit the sorrounding area.
